2022 Savagnin White Wine

Established by a decree dated July 31, 1937, the Côtes du Jura appellation is the largest of the Jura wine appellations. Stretching from north to south across the vineyards, it encompasses a wide variety of contrasting terroirs.

The soils of this wine-growing region are stony and shallow, consisting of a mixture of marl (grey Liassic marl on the upper slopes), clay and limestone scree from the limestone cliffs on steep terrain, as well as red and green variegated Triassic marl at the foot of the slopes. This geological diversity contributes to the richness and complexity of the wines produced.

The 2022 Savagnin is a distinctive wine made from the Savagnin grape variety, aged in oak barrels for approximately 4 years. This ageing process enhances the grape's characteristic aromas while adding further complexity. The natural permeability of the barrels allows for slight evaporation, contributing to the intensity of the aromas.

As no topping-up is permitted, the barrels remain partially unfilled, encouraging the formation of a layer of natural yeast, known as a voile, on the surface of the wine. This process is essential in developing aromas similar to those of Vin Jaune, while bringing remarkable depth and complexity to the flavour profile.

The 2022 Savagnin offers a wide range of aromas, from ripe fruits to hints of hazelnut and vanilla, complemented by woody and spicy notes. Its texture is rich and smooth, balanced by a pleasant acidity that gives it great finesse on the palate.
